Getting Situated

The house has 6 bedrooms, 3 baths and can comfortably sleep 15 people. It is a laid-back, knotty-pine Keys fishing lodge with lots of living room. The main "guest room" is generally considered to be the peach colored harbor-front bedroom on the north end of the third floor. It has a king-size bed, its own bath, a big empty walk-in closet, and a great view from the balcony. Help yourself to any bedroom, but be aware that some of the closets in some of the rooms are locked, and others are full of stuff. Please do not disturb.

Make sure the circuit-breaker for the hot water heater is on. The electric panel is located in the laundry room behind the kitchen. The breaker is marked.

There are two thermostats for the air conditioner. Both are located on the main living level. One is on the wall directly across from the bottom of the stairs. The other is on the wall as you enter the harbor-front bedroom on the main level. Each thermostat controls the temperature of the side of the house on which it is located.

There are board games and other activities in the closet with the short door on the west side of the stairwell.

Cable TV is available in the family room. Sometimes it is disconnected (to keep the kids adventuring outside) and you may have to reconnect it.

There are some movies and videos in the closet (with the accordion door) under the north end of the stairwell.

The light switches in the house are marked fairly well. The light switches for the lights on the dock and the balcony are on the east wall between the sliding doors facing the harbor.

The sliding doors have flip-up locks on the tracks. Make sure you flip the locks up, or you won't be able to open the doors.

The storage area under the house has lots of fun things. Please note where they are located in the storage area so that when you leave you can put everything back where it belongs. The lock on the Kayaks has the same combination.

What to Bring?

Not much. You will need a bathing suit for sure. Flip-flops and water shoes are good too. Sunscreen if you believe the sun causes skin cancer. The Lodge is fully stocked with sheets, towels, dishes, a washer-dryer and all the basic necessities. If you want to cook there is a big kitchen, but you will need to bring some groceries. There is a Publix in Key Largo, a Winn-Dixie in Tavernier, and both in Marathon.
